There's a slight difference in the format of today's news page. A Scarweather Sands campaigner contacted me regarding the recent declaration from David Cameron MP (Tory Party leader) that he intends installing a domestic wind turbine on his house, and some articles published last year in the Daily Telegraph. The Scarweather Sands campaigner's communication was as follows...
"I am always impressed by Jeff Howell's practical ON THE LEVEL articles in the Daily Telegraph, giving good exposure on shabby building practices and commercial scams.
Extracted these for your perusal when you have an odd moment. Methinks David Cameron is not aware of the dodgy economics of some of his green policies on the domestic front.............what does it imply about his notions on the larger scale?
Seems that all Political Parties are now jumping on this rickety bandwagon."

Many thanks to SOCME stalwart Anne S. for alerting me about an an advertisement that I had missed in last night's South Wales Evening Post newspaper. I will have to be far more diligent in the future.
I really enjoy the game of rugby football and I am as fanatic as any other Welshman about the Welsh International Rugby Team. However there hasn't been much to 'write home about' on their recent performances, which doesn't surprise me when I see the likes of Gavin Henson hugging a wind turbine with Andrew Davies AM. Me thinks that Gavin Henson esq. would be far better occupied devoting more of his time training for his chosen profession of rugby football instead of being used as a pawn by npower renewables and Andrew Davies AM. To be quite honest, I have never rated Gavin Henson as a world-class rugby player... (too much fake sun-tan and hair gel for my liking.) However, Gavin Henson now hugs wind turbines and is party to the proposal to install wind turbines on Mynydd-y-Gwair. If you are interested in the Ospreys competition (or if you aren't) I would urge you all to send in an entry.... suitably worded, e.g. next to the WAG's new £67m Senedd building in Cardiff Bay, or perhaps, on top of it. N.B. You have to be aged 14 or under to enter the competition, but I'm sure that we all know children of that age group who would be more than willing to enter. Plots like this, trying to brainwash children about wind-power, really annoy me.

Oh Dear - Too bad - So sad. If what is reported in the four above newspaper articles is true, it looks as if the WAG's new £67m 'Senedd' building in Cardiff Bay will be under water. Possibly a slight oversight by the environmental egg-heads in the WAG's planning department? It would be pointless if the AMs' did wish to move to higher ground because the hills will be covered with wind turbines.

Blair opts for French energy firm (article - web link)
Ye Gods ! When are the media people going to get the terminology correct?Anyone reading the above BBC article couldn't be blamed for having visions of 10 Downing Street, London, being supplied by its own electricity transmission line direct from France; a water supply pipeline from Germany (when more than likely it comes from the river Thames); and four gas supply pipelines, three of which are foreign-owned. This sounds like some more of the clean energy "Green-Wire Syndrome" nonsense spouted out by First Minister Rhodri Morgan AM, when he stated that only 100% green energy is supplied to WAG property. However, looking on the bright side, UK taxpayers should be grateful that a low-energy light bulb has now been installed in the lantern above the door of 10 Downing Street.

Concern over lack of additional support for offshore wind (article - web link)
Not exactly our favourite friends (BWEA - that is).
But it does seem as if the BWEA are having second thoughts about offshore wind power. Perhaps yesterday's release of Margaret Beckett MP & DEFRA's Climate Change Programme Review, together with the unsuccessful begging letter attempt from E.ON UK to the DTI (page 1) (page 2) for funding to build the Scarweather Sands offshore wind farm might have something to do with it? I wouldn't know personally because it's beyond my comprehension. Perhaps some of you with more intellect than what I possess might have the answer? REF Press Release
Yesterday's REF press release seems to imply that offshore power is being stiffled, which ties in very nicely with what happened to the Scarweather Sands project being shelved for a couple of years. Personally, I believe that wind turbines are just as useless offshore as what they are onshore, but that's only my own personal opinion, as one who used to enjoy walking our mountains and sailing our coastal waters. (Many thanks to C.V. for the press release)
