The next web link should be of interest to letter writers to the Western Mail and Daily Post because one wonders what the newspapers editorial stance would be if they lost a £3m a year contract from the WAG. It is interesting to read the comments of Mr Pugh, the Culture Minister, saying... "Instead of paying very large sums of public money to Trinity Mirror to carry the job advertising it could be done for example... on the assembly government's own website. Mr Pugh said jobs adverts on websites could reach more people and save money."

The two following news items today from Australia would seem to reinforce our arguments about wind power.

The first report from the multi-national company Babcock & Brown is about the lack of wind during May and June in Spain, Germany and Australia, which caused them to have generated 100 gigawatt hours less than forecast and as such they generated $10 million less revenue.

Their wind farm sites are geographically as far apart as Spain, Germany and Australia, so P Hain, Andrew Davies and the recent Gamesa serial letter writers arguments that, "The wind is always blowing somewhere" would seem to have had the wind blown out of its sails as far as developers Babcock & Brown are concerned.

The second report from another well established wind energy company reinforces the argument that wind farm sites of 3 or 4 wind turbines are not commercially viable.

You and Yours  This programme was broadcast on Monday 14th August and discussed the World's largest wind farm proposed for the Isle of Lewis, Scotland.
If for some reason the audio link will no longer work from the above "You and Yours" web site, it has worked well from the following web link.... You and Yours - altrnative web link(audio - web link) You will need to fast forward the audio to approximately 7:02 minutes into the programme and the wind farm discussion lasts until 17:44 minutes of the 54 minutes programme.
You will need the FREE BBC Radio Player software to listen.
N.B.This proramme is worth listening to if only to hear that a ballot comprising of 10,00 (ten thousand) written NO votes to the wind farms, and 17 (seventeen) YES votes was totally ignored by the Western Isles Council, who favour the installations.
If both of these web links should fail for some strange reason, a recording has been made of the broadcast, which can be made available on this web site at a later date.
Many thanks to A.K. for the above information.

£13m lawyer charged over miners' claims  (article - web link)
Once there were the 'old style' Iron & Coal Masters who made fortunes from the toil of their workers.
Now we have a new breed of "Coal Master" making a fortune from the ill health that coal miners contracted while working in the mines to provide a living for their families and 'energy' for the UK.

Ironically, thousands of chronically ill miners (and the familes of deceased miners) still wait and fight in vain for paltry compensation payments, while the likes of the 'new' Coal Master (mentioned above) make instant obscene fortunes from the suffering of those coal miners.

It's enough to make one spit up some lumps of coal dust in disgust !
