Wind farm will have (article - web link)
I can understand the concern of Mr. Ward, the director of the Suffolk Preservatation Society, but I cannot agree with his comment of, "We are not against onshore wind farms in principle...." because I believe present wind power policy to be a total 'political rip-off' ... End of story !! As far as I'm personally concerned, wind power is nothing more than a political 'quick-fix' from politicians pandering to the 'green lobby' votes. Wind turbines will not supply the UK with an alternative, safe, reliable, sustainable electrical supply, and if every inch of the UK was covered with wind turbines, they wouldn't make a jot of difference to saving the planet from global warming.I'm sorry folks, but after working 'hands-on' in the electrical industry for over 40 years, I sincerely believe that onshore or offshore wind power, as a major contribution to the UK's electrical energy needs, is nothing more than a political con-trick. I aplogise for my outburst and I'm off my soap-box now, but I believe that it needs to be said, instead of pussy-footing about with nonsensical 'politically-correct' statements. Now.. back to the news.

Isn't this just typical of the bureaucracy that we have to endure in our UK democratic state. I for one travelled for years, twice daily by car on my way to and from work, passing this 'burning coal waste tip' and can vouch for every word of the protesters. Judge Mr Justice Pitchford's words of "'I have no difficulty in concluding that each claimant suffered loss of amenity and enjoyment of his or her property', says it all for me. I won't be around when the clean up of wind turbine sites will be required, but I should imagine that there will be the same sort of excuses put forward when that time comes.

The following news item isn't strictly wind farms, but I have included it because of my ex-involvement in, and love of coastal sailing, and also because I believe it to be a heart-warming story of human courage. It might also give those of you would might not be so conversant with the area and maritime matters, a better vision of where wind power developers wish to install an off-shore wind farm.
It is inconceivable to me that the people mentioned in this article, might not only risk their own lives for others, but might also in the future have to contend with the additional hazard of avoiding thirty man-made, 446 ft high wind turbine structures, in turbulent storm-tossed seas, while trying to save human life.

This next item in tonight's South Wales Evening Post is an example of what we are going to have to endure from the nPower publicity machine (The new sponsors to the Ospreys rugby club). This is the pre-match agenda of the first game of the season between the Ospreys and the visiting Wasps rugby club. Please take note of the 7.50pm item on the agenda... when a giant nPower replica shirt is going to be introduced to the spectators. Isn't it enough to make one feel quite bilious?
