"Just an update on the South Wales Alternative To Turbines (SWATT walk which took place yesterday above the Ogwr Valley. A surprising number of people took part, An estimate put it at around 250 - 300. As I said the walk was arranged by
SWATT and coordinated by the Ramblers Association. I spoke to people from areas around Abergavenny, Rhondda and Cynon Valley's, Merthyr, Bridgend,Maesteg, Port Talbot and two couples who had driven up from Carmarthenshire.
The intention is to arrange walks fortnightly moving west in and around the TAN8 areas. The hope is that more and more people will attend which in turn will higher the profile of the strong anti-wind factory feeling in Wales. I feel sure greater co-operation between the many activists around Wales would be so beneficial, there is truly strength in numbers in addressing the issue of the close dispersal of Wind Factories.
SWATT are actively searching for two suitable candidates to stand on an Anti-wind ticket for the Assembly elections, the thinking is that the balance of power could be held by these people should they get elected.
Contact can be made with the
West Glamorgan Group of the Ramblers Association through Zetta Flew for anyone you know who would be interested. Hwyl fawr," R.S.

Many thanks to L.E. for the above scan. This is an excellent opportunity from the "Cambrian News" newspaper, to allow the people living in the west, mid and mid to north areas of rural Wales to express their feelings regarding wind farms, directly to Rhodri Morgan AM. If you know of people living in those areas who haven't already received a copy of this notice and returned it to the "Cambrian News", please download it and print it out now, for them to duly complete. If the feeling against wind farms is sufficiently strong enough in those areas, a large volume of returned forms should convey the residents true feelings to Rhodri Morgan AM. If however, there isn't a large number of duly completed forms returned to the "Cambrian News" newspaper, it should also be a fairly good indicator to us that many of us are wasting our time.

"It is fair to say that we have been surprised at the number of petitions received, and that the load has been difficult for the No10 team to keep up with. To keep this manageable and a justifiable use of resources we have reluctantly decided that we cannot respond to petitions of less than 100 people, unless they relate specifically to small groups (for example, people from a small community). And if a petition cannot really be expected to gain a ministerial response - the point is its existence rather than the response from government - then we will reserve the right to simply not respond."
